NOTE: Voltage drop

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.

→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.

→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A to the vehicle battery.

The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

For trouble-free operation, Lane Change Assist must be calibrated after the following work is carried out on the vehicle:

When one or both Lane Change Assist control units are replaced.
When the installation position of one or both Lane Change Assist control units is changed.
When body repairs are carried out on the rear of the vehicle.
When the rear bumper is removed or moved out of position.

Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and start the Tester. Switch on ignition and press [F12] to continue.
Select the vehicle type and start the diagnostic application.
Select the Lane Change Assist control unit in the overview .
Select Maintenance/repairs .
Select Control unit replacement and press [F12].
Select Read data and press [F12].
Press [F8] to start reading out data.
Check the chassis number and press [F12].
Switch off ignition and replace control unit. → 917019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR LANE CHANGE ASSIST .
Switch on ignition. Select the Write data menu (procedure described above), press [F12] and then press [F8] to start installing the data that was read out.
The Tester displays the message Data has been written . Press [F12] to continue.
Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
