Removing Primary Catalytic Converter On Left Side
- Primary catalytic converter on right side
- Bottom holder on transmission housing
- Top holder on transmission bell housing
- Seal on flange to turbocharger

- Remove electric plug-in connectors -1-
from the oxygen sensors.

- Check that the cables are routed correctly → Oxygen sensor cable routing

- Unclip cable on the left cylinder bank.
- Raise the vehicle → 4X00IN LIFTING THE VEHICLE
.
- Remove heat shield -1-
at the universal joint on the steering column.↓
- 5.1. Unscrew fastening screws -2-
.
- 5.2. Remove heat shield -1-

- On vehicles with Servotronic: Pull off connector -3-

- Remove universal joint -1-
.
- 7.1. Loosen clamping screw -2-
.
- 7.2. Slide universal joint -1-
and lower part of steering column upwards -arrow-

- Unclip cable at the transmission housing.
- Pull oxygen sensor cables downwards.
- 9.1. Fasten the cables to a suitable cord so that you can pull them up again during installation.
- 9.2. Pull the cables down past the high-pressure pump.
- Loosen clamping sleeves -1-
for the exhaust pipe.
- 10.1. Loosen clamping screws -2-

- 10.2. Slide clamping sleeves towards the rear -arrow-

- Screw off fastening nut -1-
on the bottom holder -2-

- Unscrew fastening screw -1-
on top holder -2-

- Screw off fastening nuts on studs -3-

- Remove primary catalytic converter.
