Removing Exhaust Manifold, Cylinders 5 - 8

1. 1.1. Remove fastening screws -2-  .
2. 1.2. Remove heat shield -1-  .

Information 

• Set the steering wheel with the wheels in straight-ahead position. To do this, engage the steering column lock or clamp the steering wheel in center position with a steering-wheel holder. If this is not done, the airbag contact unit will have to be moved to center position after installation of the steering gear  . → 945019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING STEERING-COLUMN SWITCH

1. 2.1. On vehicles with Servotronic: Pull off connector -3-  .
2. 2.2. Detach holder at cable for Servotronic connector and set cable to one side.
3. 2.3. Unscrew clamping screw -2-  .
4. 2.4. Slide universal joint -1-  and lower part of steering column upwards.

1. 3.1. Remove fastening screws -A and B-  .
2. 3.2. Remove outer heat shield -C-  .

4. M6 screw; heat shield to exhaust manifold
