Repair Procedure
- Equipping bridge
- 1.1. Screw injector with seal -5- into the bridge until the seal is touching the glass. Then press the injector against the window by completing one more turn.
- 1.2. Attach needle to syringe and fill with approx. 0.15 ml of resin. → Filling syringe
- 1.3. Inject resin into the injector. → Filling injector
- Pressurizing phase
- 2.1. Slowly screw plunger -6- into the injector -5- until resistance is felt and the shape of the seal changes → Seal under pressure . Keep a firm hold on the injector barrel while doing this.
- 2.2. Leave the plunger pressed down in this position for around 5 min., in which time the plunger will automatically build up pressure.
- Vacuum phase
- 3.1. Use one hand to lift the plunger -6- (-A- ) and secure in position by turning 90° clockwise -B- . This allows any air to escape out of the area of damage.
- 3.2. Release plunger so that pressure is able to build up again.
- 3.3. Repeat steps → 3.1 and → 3.2 about 5-10 times until there is no more air in the chipped area.
- Heating
If the damage is more severe, the removal of trapped air can be speeded up by warming gently. To do this, use a lighter to heat the area of damage from the inside for 3-5 seconds.
Please note: Heat during the vacuum phase only, otherwise the expanding air would cause excessive pressure in the damaged area.
- Removing the bridge
- 5.1. Release the plunger a little (do not create a vacuum) and unscrew the injector.
- 5.2. Remove bridge from the windscreen.
- Applying finishing resin
- 6.1. Add a drop of finishing resin directly onto the impact point.
- 6.2. Slide film across the windscreen.
- Curing under a UV lamp
- 7.1. Place a UV lamp over the area of damage from the outside and switch on. → Curing under a UV lamp
- 7.2. Curing takes around 10 minutes, depending on the size of the stone chip.
- Scraping off repair resin
- 8.1. Remove film and scrape off excess resin using a razor blade held at a 90 degree angle to the windscreen. → Scraping off resin
Please note: Risk of damage to the windscreen. Only use razor blades that are in perfect condition, otherwise they could damage the windscreen.
- 8.2. If there is still an indentation at the point of repair, steps → 6., → 7 and → 8.1 will need to be repeated to obtain a perfect finish.
- 8.1. Remove film and scrape off excess resin using a razor blade held at a 90 degree angle to the windscreen. → Scraping off resin
- Polishing
Polish the repair with polish and a soft cloth.
Please note: Do not polish for too long as this can wear down the repair resin and the surface will no longer be flat.
- Cleaning the tools
After completing the repair, clean tools using a dry, lint-free cloth. The resin will otherwise perish the seals.
