Preliminary work

  1. Raise the vehicle → 4X00IN LIFTING THE VEHICLE .
  2. Remove wheels → 440519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING WHEEL .
  3. Remove cover for underbody at the sides → 519319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COVER FOR CENTRE UNDERBODY .
  4. Remove brake calliper on both sides of the vehicle and suspend it at a suitable position in the wheel housing (do not open the brake hydraulic system!) → 474119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR BRAKE CALLIPER .
  5. Remove coil springs/air springs on both sides of the vehicle → 427219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR COIL SPRING  → 434319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR AIR SPRING .
  6. Remove rear silencer → 260119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING EXHAUST SYSTEM .
  7. Loosen cardan shaft from rear final drive and secure to the body with a piece of wire → WM 422119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR DRIVE SHAFT 
  8. Release final drive from all lines → 390119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR FINAL DRIVE .
