Installing Turbocharger

NOTE:

Replace gaskets, sealing rings and O-rings.
Hose adapters and hoses for the charge air system must be free of oil and grease before being fitted.
Secure all hose connections with standard hose clamps.
To fasten the charge air hoses securely to their adapters, spray the threaded parts of previously used screw-type clamps with anti-rust agent before installation.
Refit all heat protection boots at the same position during installation.
Leave the engine running at idle speed for about 1 minute and avoid revving the engine after installing the turbocharger to ensure an adequate oil supply for the turbocharger.

NOTE:

Do not damage O-rings!

Position the turbocharger.
1. 1.1. Position the turbocharger and fit coolant supply pipe -2- with a new O-ring under the heat shield.
  Coat O-ring with coolant.
2. 1.2. Fit and tighten fastening screw -1- over the heat shield.
3. 1.3. Fit new seal at the connection point between the turbocharger and exhaust manifold.
4. 1.4. Fit the turbocharger on the studs in the opposite direction to the -direction of arrow- .
  
  Installing turbocharger
Install turbocharger.
1. 2.1. Coat studs with high-temperature paste.
2. 2.2. Fit and tighten new fastening nuts -arrows- .
3. 2.3. Fill the turbocharger with engine oil at the oil supply line adapter.
4. 2.4. Fit oil supply line with new O-ring over the heat shield and press it into position.
  Coat O-ring with engine oil.
5. 2.5. Fit and tighten fastening screw -2 - .
  Tool recommendation: Special inserts Nr.170
6. 2.6. Fit coolant return pipe with a new O-ring.
  Coat O-ring with coolant.
7. 2.7. Fit and tighten fastening screw -1- .
  Tool recommendation: Special inserts Nr.170
8. 2.8. Connect electric plug connection -3- at the electronic adjuster for the turbocharger.
  
  Accessories on turbocharger
Position heat shield and fit and tighten fastening screws -arrows - .

Connect electric plug connection -1- for recirculating air valve for the turbocharger.

Position positive crankcase ventilation and fit and tighten fastening screw -arrow- .

Connect electric plug connection -1- and clip it into the holder.

Secure the oil return line.
1. 7.1. Connect oil return line with a new O-ring .
  Coat O-ring with engine oil.
2. 7.2. Fit and tighten fastening screw -1- .
3. 7.3. Position support for turbocharger.
4. 7.4. Fit and tighten fastening screw -2- .

Tighten fastening screw -1- for securing support to turbocharger -2- .

Turbocharger support
Connect moulded hose to the turbocharger and tighten spring band clamp.

Air guide on turbocharger
Close the cap on the reservoir.
