Installing Timing Chain

- The rolling direction of the timing chain must always be the same.
- If the timing chain is to be reused, the rolling direction of the timing chain must be marked before it is removed.

If the timing chain has to be removed or replaced, check the guide and tensioning rails as well as the chain pinions for wear and scoring and replace them if necessary.
Camshaft timing gears and camshaft controllers must be fitted and it must be possible to turn them (without tilting)
- Check that the guide and tensioning rails are installed at the correct position.
- Place timing chain loosely on all sprockets. Ensure that the timing chain is positioned correctly on the guide rails.
