Removing steering wheel

  1. Turn wheels to straight-ahead position.
    NOTE:
    • Always release and disconnect the plug connections for steering wheel heater cables and airbag cables before removing the steering wheel  .
  2. Release plug connection for airbag wire harness -1  - and disconnect it.
  3. If the vehicle has a heated steering wheel: release and disconnect plug connection for steering wheel heating -2  -.

    NOTE:

    Immediately after unscrewing the screw and before  removing the steering wheel, always mark the position of the steering wheel between the steering wheel and steering column -2  -.

    Marking 

    This ensures that the steering wheel will be fitted at the same position on the steering column again during reinstallation.

  4. Unscrew and remove fastening screw -1  - using multiple-tooth socket-wrench insert Nr.32  ().

  5. Mark the position of the steering wheel.
  6. Remove steering wheel.
