Installing Crankshaft-Flywheel Sealing Ring

NOTE:

After fitting the sealing ring, leave the silicone sealant to dry for 30 minutes.

Engine oil must not be filled in until the sealing compound has been allowed to dry for the specified time.

  1. Remove sealant residue on the cylinder block using a scraper.
  2. Clean sealing faces to remove any oil and grease.
  3. Cut off the nozzle on the tube at the front marking. (The nozzle diameter is approx. 2 mm).
    NOTE:

    The sealing ring must be fitted within 5 minutes of applying the silicone sealant.

  4. Apply silicone sealant to the clean sealing face. → Applying sealant 

    Sealant bead thickness: 2...3 mm.

  5. Assembly sleeve T20097  must now be fitted on the crankshaft journal. → Assembly sleeve on crankshaft journal

  6. Slide the sealing ring onto the crankshaft journal using assembly sleeve T20097  and fit and tighten new  fastening screws.

    Observe tightening sequence -1...6-  .

    Step 1: Screw in as far as it will go by hand.

  7. Assembly sleeve T20097  must now be removed.
  8. Engage intermediate plate on the sealing ring and dowel sleeves -arrows-  .
