Installing Locking Cable

NOTE:
Do not apply lateral forces to the pull rod as it could break off.
Do not use force on the pull rod
- Install locking cable -1- .
- Guide locking cable -1-
into the selector support -3-
and fit safety clip -2-
.

- Position heat shield and fit and tighten fastening nuts -2-
.
Heat shield
- Lift the transmission and fit and tighten fastening screws -1-
and -3-
. Tightening torque 70 Nm (52 ftlb.)
Gear support
NOTE:- Loosen clamping screw for locking cable by only about 1 turn.
- The clamping screw is only accessible in selector-lever position "P".
- When the clamping screw is loosened, the selector lever must remain in position "P".
- Tighten fastening screw -1 -
for the locking cable using socket insert a/f 5 T40031
. Tightening torque 13 Nm (9.5 ftlb.)

- Press release -3-
, actuate selector knob -2-
and move selector lever from position "P" to "D" and from position "D" to "M" and back again several times.

and connect electric plug connection -2-
