Calibrating Selector Knob

NOTE:
Do not operate the brakes during the entire procedure.
- Switch off ignition.
- Move selector knob to position P .
- Open the driver's door.
- Switch ignition on and then off again.
- The four position displays (P; R; N; D) must flash in the instrument cluster.
- Plug in selector lever connector.
- 6.1. Position display in the instrument cluster changes to P .
- Wait 2 seconds.
- Press
the emergency release button -arrow- five times within 3 seconds

- 8.1. The four position displays (P; R; N; D) must now flash again in the instrument cluster.
- 8.2. If this does not happen, repeat the procedure starting from Step 4.
Emergency release button
- Press the emergency release button once
(i.e. 6 times in total), shift from P
to D
and wait 1 second

- 9.1. The emergency release button must be released again immediately after shifting out of P.
- Move selector knob to position M
.
- 10.1. Do not shift into position M+ or M- while doing this.
- Leave the selector knob in position M
until the position displays stop flashing in the instrument cluster and position D
is indicated.
- 11.1. This can take up to 7 seconds.
- The calibration process is now complete. If the flashing display stopped even before this, calibration must be repeated.
- Checking calibration.
- 13.1. Start the engine.
- 13.2. Shift through all positions using the selector knob - all positions must now be displayed correctly in the position display in the instrument cluster.
- 13.3. If this is not the case, calibration must be repeated.
- Delete the fault memory in the transmission and instrument cluster control unit using the PIWIS Tester.
