Replacing PDK Transmission Control Unit
- The raised vehicle can fall from the lifting platform, for example.
- Danger of crushing.
- Risk of damage to or from objects.
→ During calibration, the brake pedal must be blocked using a commercially available brake pedal lock.
→ The parking brake must be engaged.
→ The vehicle must not be raised and must be standing on its wheels.
- Risk of irreparable damage to control unit

- Fault entries in the control unit
- Coding in the control unit is aborted
- Malfunctions in control unit, even during programming
→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A to the vehicle battery.

The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.

- Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on ignition and press [F12] to continue.
- Select the vehicle type and start the PIDT.
- Select the required control unit, e.g. Transmission control in the overview .
- Select Maintenance/repairs .
- Select Control unit replacement and press [F12].
- Read data and press [F12].
- Press [F8] to start reading out data.
- Check the chassis number and press [F12].
- Switch off ignition and replace control unit. → 373019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TRANSMISSION CONTROL UNIT (PDK) .
- Switch on ignition. Select the Write data menu (procedure described above), press [F12] and then press [F8] to start installing the data that was read out.
- The System Tester displays the message Data has been written . Press [F12] to continue.
- Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- In the Coding/adaptation menu, select Automatic coding and press [F12].
- Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- Switch ignition off and on again.
- Select the required control unit PDK in the overview .
- Select Maintenance/repairs .
- Read out the PDK fault memory and check whether faults are present.
- 18.1. If faults are present, correct the faults according to Guided Fault Finding instructions.
- 18.2. If there are no faults present, continue with Calibration (complete process)

Information
The PDK transmission control unit must first be programmed before starting calibration.
- Select the Calibration (complete process) menu and press [F12].
- Observe the warnings and test prerequisites displayed on the Tester.
- Calibration can be run by pressing [F8] and then pressing [F12] to start.
- The Tester displays the message Calibration successful . Press [F12]. Follow the instructions on the Tester.
- In the Programming menu, select the function Automatic programming and press [F12].
- Exit the menu and perform a test drive. Read out the fault memory for all control units after the test drive.
