Subsequent Work

  1. Install engine cover.

    → 557819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE COMPARTMENT LID - section on "Installing".

  2. Install rear wall cover.

    → 555919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING REAR WALL COVER - section on "Installing".

  3. Install center console.

    → 681719 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CENTRE CONSOLE - "Installing" section.

  4. Move selector lever from position "P" to "D" and then from position "D" to "M" and back again several times.
  5. Check that the parking lock is disengaged.
    1. 5.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
    2. 5.2. Move selector lever to position "P". "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
    3. 5.3. Actuate the operating brake.
    4. 5.4. Start the engine.
    5. 5.5. Move selector lever to position "D". "D" appears in the instrument cluster.
    6. 5.6. Release the operating brake. If the vehicle moves forward, the test is complete. Otherwise, all connecting pieces must be checked again.
  6. Check that the parking lock is engaged (engine running).
    1. 6.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
    2. 6.2. Move selector lever to position "P". "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
    3. 6.3. Actuate the operating brake.
    4. 6.4. Start the engine.
    5. 6.5. Release the operating brake. The vehicle must not move. Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
    6. 6.6. Switch off engine.
  7. Check that the parking lock is engaged (blocking effect).
    1. 7.1. Insert ignition key into the ignition lock.
    2. 7.2. Move selector lever to position "P". "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
    3. 7.3. Move selector lever to position "N". "N" appears in the instrument cluster.
    4. 7.4. Get another person to help you to push the vehicle for a distance of at least one meter. It must be possible to move the vehicle. Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
    5. 7.5. Actuate the operating brake.
    6. 7.6. Move selector lever to position "P". "P" appears in the instrument cluster.
    7. 7.7. Get another person to help you to push the vehicle. The vehicle must not move (a max. movement of 150 mm is acceptable). Otherwise, the entire system must be checked.
