Checking And Topping Up ATF (Clutch Fluid)

Information 

Before getting started, the transmission in the stationary vehicle must already be filled with ATF. → 370255 CHANGING ATF (CLUTCH FLUID) 

Information 

Affix adhesive tape -1-  to the area between the transmission housing and ATF pan to prevent dirt from getting into the oil pan.

1. Pre-fill ATF.

   Tools: Manual Metering Pump WE 1372 

   1. 1.1. Prepare the vehicle:
      • Apply the parking brake.
      • Move selector lever to position "P".
      • Start the engine and leave it running at idle speed.
   2. 1.2. Unscrew oil filler screw -1-  .
      1. 1.2.1. ATF emerges: Collect emerging ATF until only drops of ATF are emerging.
      2. Oil fill mode can be activated when the transmission fluid temperature is between 30 °C and 50 °C. The transmission control unit ends the process automatically after 5 minutes  .
      3. 1.2.2. No ATF emerges: Top up ATF until ATF emerges at the filler bore.
   3. 1.3. Tighten oil filler screw -1-  .

      Tightening To Specified Torque

      Information 

      • Oil fill mode can be activated when the transmission fluid temperature is between 30°C and 50°C. The transmission control unit ends the process automatically after 6 minutes  .
      • Get another person to help you to fill in oil. This person must sit in the vehicle and carry out the required tasks as instructed  .
2. Preparatory work for checking ATF.

   Precondition:  Transmission oil temperature > 10 °C

   1. 2.1. PIWIS Tester II 9818  must now be connected.
   2. 2.2. Shift the selector lever through gearshift positions R-N-D once with the engine running and pause for one second at each position.
   3. 2.3. Move selector lever to position "P".
   4. 2.4. Start oil fill mode on the Tester and follow the instructions.
      WARNING: Hot fluid

      • Danger of scalding

      → Let the fluid cool down.

      → Wear personal protective gear.

      Only use oil approved by Porsche in the Porsche Doppelkupplung (PDK) .

3. Check ATF in oil fill mode.

   Tools: Manual Metering Pump WE 1372 

   1. 3.1. Unscrew filler screw -1-  .
      1. 3.1.1. ATF emerges: Collect emerging ATF until only drops of ATF are emerging.
      2. 3.1.2. No ATF emerges: Top up ATF until ATF emerges at the filler bore.
   2. 3.2. Tighten new oil filler screw -1-  .

      Tightening To Specified Torque

4. Remove adhesive tape from the area between the transmission housing and ATF pan. Carefully clean the transmission housing and ATF pan.
5. Switch off engine.
