Component exchange after airbag triggering: Notes

The following components must be removed and replaced after the airbag system is triggered:
Airbag unit, driver's side:
- Contact unit.
- Airbag unit, driver's side.
- Triggering unit after the third time the airbag is triggered.
- Airbag sensors: see → 1 → 2.
Airbag unit, passenger's side:
- Airbag unit, passenger's side.
- Triggering unit after the third time the airbag is triggered.
- Dashboard.
- Check dashboard bracket for deformation and replace if necessary.
- Airbag sensors: see → 1 → 2.
Side airbag unit, seat:
- Side airbag unit, seat.
- Triggering unit after the third time the airbag is triggered.
- Seat covering, deformed seat components.
- Airbag sensors: see → 1 → 2.
Head airbag unit:
- Head airbag unit.
- Triggering unit after the third time the airbag is triggered.
- Check roof lining and replace if necessary.
- Airbag sensors: see → 1 → 2.
Airbag sensor:
- All airbag sensors in damaged/deformed areas of the vehicle must always be replaced.
- Otherwise (i.e. even if the vehicle was not crashed), the airbag sensors must be replaced if they show signs of mechanical damage and/or if the airbag control unit detects that the airbag sensor is defective (use PIWIS Tester II 9818 to read out the fault memory).
