Adjusting Front Door

Incorrect handling of safety bolts

→ Always use new fastening screws and nuts following removal.
→ Observe specified tightening torques.
→ Carry out a visual inspection of all re-used parts.
Information
Only tighten the fastening screws on the door hinges hand-tight from the inside until the doors are set correctly.
Information
If the door is fitted without a sub-frame, the rear edge of the outer door panel must be installed higher with respect to the rear door by the dimension -P- (approx. 2 mm). The door is lowered by approximately 2 mm when the door sub-frame is installed.
- Adjusting front door
- 1.1. Remove door lock striker.
Unscrew fastening screws -6- and take off door lock striker.
- 1.2. Unscrew fastening screws -1- , -2- and -3- and replace them. The new screws must initially be tightened by hand only (max. 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.)).
- 1.3. Set the contour with respect to the wing by moving the door both vertically and horizontally at the door-side hinge halves -4-

Replacing fastening screws
- 1.1. Remove door lock striker.
- Adjusting rear door
- 2.1. Install door lock striker and screw in fastening screws -6- hand-tight.
- 2.2. Set the contour with respect to the rear door by moving the door lock striker -7- both vertically and horizontally.
- Check gap dimension to B-pillar.
- 3.1. Hold a flat object (e.g. a credit card) at the B-pillar and measure the dimension -R-

Gap dimension 0.8 mm +/-0.5 mm

- Check all gap dimensions and adjust the door again if necessary. Then tighten all fastening screws to the specified tightening torque.
- 4.1. Tighten fastening screws -1- , -2- and -3- to the specified tightening torque → Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.) +/-3 Nm (+/-2.0 ftlb.)
- 4.2. Re-tighten fastening screws -1-

to the specified torque angle → Torque angle: 90°

- 4.3. Tighten fastening screws -6-
to the specified tightening torque.
→ Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)+/-2 Nm (+/-1.5 ftlb.)
