Installing Directional-Control Valve

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Porsche Cayenne, 2009 Porsche Cayenne, and 2008 Porsche Cayenne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
  1. Install directional-control valve.

    Information 

    • Before connecting the water hoses, apply suitable rubber lubricant to the flanges. 
    1. 1.1. Push directional-control valve into the moulded hoses -arrow A-  .
    2. 1.2. Slide spring band clamps onto the connections using the assembly pliers for spring band clamps, Cayenne hose connections Nr.72-1 (-arrows B-)  and align with the markings.
    3. 1.3. Slacken spring band clamps -arrows C-  and secure the hoses.

  2. Install directional-control valve holder.
    1. 2.1. Insert directional-control valve holder -4- (-arrow-)  .
    2. 2.2. Secure directional-control valve holder -4-  using the two fastening nuts -3-  . → Tightening torque: 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.) 
    3. 2.3. Screw down directional-control valve -2-  using the two fastening screws -1-  . → Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ftlb.)

  3. Secure water tube on the directional-control valve at the top.

    Information 

    • Before connecting the water hoses, apply suitable rubber lubricant to the flanges. 
    1. 3.1. Swivel water tube upwards and slide it onto the directional-control valve -arrow A-  .
    2. 3.2. Slide spring band clamp onto the connection using the assembly pliers for spring band clamps, Cayenne hose connections Nr.72-1 (-arrow B-)  and align with the markings.
    3. 3.3. Slacken spring band clamp -arrows C-  and secure the hoses.

  4. Position heater on holder and screw down with the fastening screws -1-  . → Tightening torque: 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)

  5. Secure water tube at the heater.

    Information 

    • Before connecting the water hoses, apply suitable rubber lubricant to the flanges. 
    1. 5.1. Place water tube in installation position and slide onto the heater -arrow A-  .
    2. 5.2. Slide spring band clamp onto the connection using the assembly pliers for spring band clamps, Cayenne hose connections Nr.72-1 (-arrow B-)  and align with the markings.
    3. 5.3. Slacken spring band clamp -arrows C-  and secure the hose.

    Information 

    Make sure the water tube holder is installed at the correct position.

    The exhaust pipe runs behind the water tube holder.

  6. Install water tube holder.
    1. 6.1. Position water tube holder -3- (-arrow-)  .
    2. 6.2. Tighten fastening screw -2-  . → Tightening torque: 4.5 Nm (3.5 ftlb.) 
    3. 6.3. Tighten fastening nuts -1-  . → Tightening torque: 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.)

  7. Position water tube on holder and secure with a blind rivet -1-  (4.8 x 10).

  8. Push water tube holder -1-  onto the two water tubes and screw down using the fastening screw -2-  . → Tightening torque: 3 Nm (2 ftlb.)

  9. Plug connector onto the directional-control valve -arrow-  until the connector engages securely.
