Assembling The Fuel Measuring Tool
Information
The tool setup must be fitted with sealing rings (copper, aluminium, or plastic, etc.) between the individual components. The setup must be fully sealed.
- Measuring adapter 9705; with rapid-action coupling. Generates the required counter-pressure of 2.5 bar.
- Adapter 1318/17 (A) from K-Jetronic Tester V.A.G 1318 WE 1291 ; connection to measuring adapter 9705
- Pressure gauge with stopcock tester K-Jetronic Tester V.A.G 1318 WE 1291
- Adapter 1318/7 from K-Jetronic Tester V.A.G 1318 WE 1291
- Connecting line connection line 9705/3 ("female" rapid-action coupling)
ohne Abbildung - A stopwatch is required to perform to measurement.
- Assemble the measuring equipment as shown in → Fig 1 .
Taking measurements
- Danger of poisoning or suffocation
- Danger of burns to the eyes and skin
→ Ventilate the work area well.
→ Never ingest or inhale.
→ Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
→ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.
- Danger of fire or explosion
→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.
→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapours.
→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.
Information
Get a second worker to help perform the measurement if necessary.
Information
Place cloths underneath the line connection points to soak up fuel.
- Pull off the fuel supply line -1- from the right connection unit.
- Connect the measuring tool.
- 2.1. Connect measuring tool to the output of the connection unit -1-
.
Information
Position the measuring cup and the open end of the hose outside of the vehicle.
- 2.2. Hold the open end of the hose from the measuring adapter 9705 -2- into a measuring cup with a volume of at least 1 litre.
- 2.3. Set the stopcock to the 'flow' position.
- 2.1. Connect measuring tool to the output of the connection unit -1-
.
- Bleed the measuring tool.
- 3.1. Ensure that the open end of the measuring tool is securely retained in the measuring cup.
- 3.2. Fit fuses 13 and 14.
Information
Pressing the switch activates the fuel and pump and starts the fuel supply. This action bleeds the measuring tool.
- 3.3. Set adapter 9479 switch to position "1" until fuel runs out.
- 3.4. Empty the measuring cup of fuel.
- Carry out the fuel delivery rate measurement.
Information
- The fuel pump must deliver at least 0.6 litres of fuel during the measurement period. Replace the fuel pump if this delivery rate is not achieved.
- The pressure gauge shows a fuel pressure of 2.5 to 2.7 bar during the measurement. This counter-pressure is generated by the pressure regulator on the measuring adapter 9705.
- 4.1. Simultaneously set adapter 9479 switch to position "1" for 20 seconds and start the stopwatch.
- 4.2. Set adapter 9479
switch to position "0" for 20 seconds.
- 4.3. Measure amount of fuel in the measuring cup.
