Removing Hydraulic Tappets

- Rocker arms are joined to the hydraulic tappets with a safety clip.
- The safety clip must be handled carefully!
- If the hydraulic tappets are to be re-used, they must be marked according to installation position using a water-resistant felt-tip pen and set aside in such a way that they cannot be mixed up!
- If the hydraulic tappets are to be re-used, they must be installed at the same position!
- Rocker arms must be set aside in such a way that they cannot be mixed up.
- Take rocker arms with hydraulic tappets out of cylinder head.
- 1.1. Rocker arms, complete with safety clip and hydraulic tappet, must be pulled out carefully .
- Check component arrangement. Check that components are complete and intact.
Defective or damaged components must be replaced. The safety clip is hooked into the front of the rocker arm -1- and into the support lever -2- .
Check the position of the valve pressure face with respect to the rocker arm during removal -3- .
- Lay rocker arms, hydraulic tappets and safety clips aside in such a way that they cannot be mixed up. Mark installation position according to cylinder and valve.
