Removing Tie Rod

- Remove wheel → Removing and installing wheel .
- To make it easier to remove the outer tie rod joint, swivel the relevant wheel carrier so that the tie rod is fully extended. Remove the outer tie rod joints with the ball joint puller T10187. When pressing out, screw lock nut on flush (protects the ball joint thread).
- Right tie rod: Remove heat shield near joint boot of right tie rod.
- Remove small clamp on joint boot using assembly tools for spring-band clamps Nr.72.
- Cut open and remove large clamp on joint boot using side cutters.
- Carefully pull the joint boot outwards until the axial joint is accessible.
- Remove axial joint from the steering rack using open-jawed wrench insert a/f 38 Nr.95-2 for torque wrench and remove the complete tie rod.
