Installing Sealing Bellows Of The Steering Column

Information
- The steering columns must only be replaced as a complete unit. Individual components cannot be disassembled and replaced.
- Visually inspect all parts.
- Make sure that everything remains absolutely clean.
- Use the prescribed lubricant on the sliding part. This lubricant is available under the following part numbers: Container quantity: one 10-gram tube = 000.043.205.44!
- Use the prescribed lubricant at the sleeve contact point with the friction ring of the sealing sleeve. . This lubricant is available under the following part number: Container quantity: one 30-gram tin = 999.917.557.00!
- Fit together both parts of the steering column that were previously marked with -colour markings- .
- The lower steering shaft must slide on the upper steering shaft smoothly and without catching.
- Fit the sealing bellows of the steering column in the correct position.
- Slide the lower steering shaft onto the upper steering. See Fig 2. Overcome the pressure point with a strong jerk.
