Installing Head Airbag Unit

Information
Always replace the fastening screws and nuts after customer service and reworking. The micro-self-locking screws must not be treated, greased or loosened and then screwed on again.

If a new component (e.g. sensor, airbag control unit, airbag unit) of the airbag system has to be installed, the new component will be supplied with a barcode sticker (tear-off label).
- Tear off the tear-off label -2- on the new component -1- and stick it in the Warranty and Maintenance booklet under the heading Proof of airbag system check/component replacement.
- The replacement date and current mileage must be documented and the booklet must be stamped with the Centre's stamp.
- Clip in the head airbag unit in the area of the middle fastening screws -2-
in the order -a to c-
and then tighten the fastening screws -2-
in the order -a to c-
. → Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ft lbs.)
Information
- The head airbag unit must be pushed -3- completely unter the deformation element -3- in the area of the deformation element.
- Clip in the head airbag unit in the area of the front fastening screws -2- in the order -d to g- and then tighten the fastening screws -2- in the order -d to g- . → Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ft lbs.)
- Clip in the head airbag unit in the area of the rear fastening screws -2-
in the order -h to k-
and then tighten the fastening screws -2-
in the order -h to k-
. → Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ft lbs.)
Information
- Make sure that the head airbag is not trapped.
- Position the deformation element and tighten with the fastening nuts -1- . → Tightening torque: 3.5 Nm (2.5 ft lbs.)
- Insert connector into the plug socket -arrow A- until the lock engages securely -arrow B- .
- Clip plug socket into the body -arrow C- .
