Removing Sealing Ring For Crankshaft Flywheel

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2010 Porsche Cayenne, 2009 Porsche Cayenne, and 2008 Porsche Cayenne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

Information

Here are some pictures showing the engine from the Cayenne V8. The work steps are to be performed in the same way.

  1. Remove crankshaft sealing ring.

    Information

    • If a crankshaft stub is dirty or slightly rusted, this will damage the new sealing ring when it is fitted.
    • The crankshaft stub must be cleaned before the old sealing ring is removed so that no particles of dirt can reach the engine.
    • Use a metal-polishing pad (e.g. Never Dull) for this.
    1. 1.1. Clean rust and dirt off the crankshaft stub (→ see Fig 1).
