Preliminary Work

  1. Remove the engine. → Removing 4.8-litre DFI engine
  2. Remove engine from transmission. → Removing engine from transmission
  3. Secure engine on assembly support. → 1001IN SECURING V8 4.8-LITRE DFI ENGINE ON MOUNTING BRACKET
  4. Drain engine oil. For details, see → Draining And Filling In Engine Oil
  5. Disassemble the engine. Cylinder heads are removed, but must remain intact. The starter, knock sensors, thermostat housing and coolant guide remain fitted on the crankcase. For details, see → 100137 DISASSEMBLING AND ASSEMBLING V8 4.8-LITRE DFI ENGINE
