Detaching Convertible Top Covering At The Rear

The convertible top must be moved to various positions in order to gain the best possible access to the fitting areas shown below.

Mask the edges of the wing with adhesive tape -1- .
Carefully pull the roof strut out of the hood compartment with the help of another person.
- Detach convertible top covering at the B-pillar.
- 1.1. Pull the roofliner -3- aside -arrow- and drill out rivets -1- on the inner retaining strap -2- .
- 1.2. Loosen retaining straps.
- 1.2.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1 and 3- .
- 1.2.2. Remove retaining straps -2 and 4- .
- 1.3. Drill out rivets -1- .
- Pull off water drain hose -1- . -arrow-
- Disconnect rear window heating.
- Loosen control arm on rear window.
- 4.1. Pull the roofliner -4- aside. -arrow A-
- 4.2. Pull off safety clips -2- . -arrow B-
- 4.3. Pull off control arm -1- . -arrow C-
- Mark installation position of tension bow.
- 5.1. Draw a line -A- at the transition point between the bearing and tension bow.
- Loosen the tension bow.
- 6.1. Unscrew fastening screws -1- .
- 6.2. Lift the tension bow up out of the hood compartment and remove it. -arrow-
