Replacing Control Unit For Steering Wheel Electronics

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A to the vehicle battery.

On vehicles with the equipment variant multi-function steering wheel, a function enable process must be carried out after replacing the steering wheel electronics control unit.
- Connect the PIWIS Tester to the vehicle and start the PIWIS Tester. Switch on ignition.
- Select the vehicle type and start the diagnostic application.
- Select the steering wheel electronics control unit in the overview .
- Codings/adaptations must now be selected.
- Automatic coding must now be selected. Then press [F12] to continue.
- The Tester displays the message Coding has been completed successfully . Press [F12] to continue.
- Select Steering-angle sensor calibration in the Maintenance/repairs menu.
- Follow the instructions on the Tester and press [F8] to start.
- The Tester indicates that the calibration was completed successfully . Press [F12] to continue.
- Read out the fault memory and erase it if necessary.
- Function test: Perform a test drive.
- Read out the fault memory.
