Installing Rear Side Member

  1. Apply adhesive.

    1. 1.1. Evenly apply adhesive to the marked areas.

      Working with body structural adhesive → 5X00IN WORKING WITH BODY STRUCTURAL ADHESIVE

  2. Fit and secure rear side member.
  3. Spot-weld rear side member using inert gas.

  4. Apply adhesive.

    1. 4.1. Evenly apply adhesive to the marked areas.
  5. Weld in center floor section.

    1. 5.1. Resistance spot-weld center floor section.
    2. 5.2. Plug-weld center floor section in the area -A-  using inert gas.
    3. 5.3. Spot-weld center floor section in the area -B-  using inert gas.
    4. 5.4. Slot-weld center floor section in the area -C-  using inert gas.
    5. 5.5. Apply a full weld to center floor section using inert gas.

    Information 

    When welding slots, make sure that both edges of the slot are welded through.

  13. Weld in wheel housing reinforcement.

    1. 13.1. Fit and secure wheel housing reinforcement at dimension -A-  .

      → Distance: 326 mm 

    2. 13.2. Resistance spot-weld wheel housing reinforcement.

  14. Apply adhesive.

  15. Weld in rear floor section.

    1. 15.1. Resistance spot-weld rear floor section.
    2. 15.2. Plug-weld rear floor section in the area -A-  using inert gas.
  16. Install boot floor plate. → 532455 REPLACING REAR TRUNK FLOOR PANEL  - section on "Installing"
  17. Install (inner) rear wheel housing. → 536855 REPLACING (INNER) REAR WHEEL HOUSING  - section on "Installing"
  18. Install D-pillar reinforcement (section). → 533055 REPLACING REINFORCEMENT FOR D-PILLAR (SECTION)  - chapter on "Installing"
  19. Fill rear side member with foam.
