Removing D-Pillar Reinforcement

  1. Remove rear side section (roof removed). → 535555 REPLACING REAR SIDE SECTION (ROOF REMOVED)  - section on "Removing"
  2. Remove closing panel. → 530555 REPLACING REAR CLOSING PANEL  - section on "Removing"
  3. Loosen welded joints.

    1. 3.1. Drill out spotwelds using Spotweld Drill  .
    2. 3.2. Grind down MIG seams.
  4. Remove D-pillar gusset plate.
  5. Grind down MIG seams.

  6. Grind down MIG seams.

  7. Drill out and grind down spotwelds.

  8. Loosen welded joints.

    1. 8.1. Drill out spotwelds.
    2. 8.2. Grind down MIG seams.

    Information 

    Drill out spotwelds A, B, C, D  through two plate thicknesses.

  9. Loosen welded joints.

    1. 9.1. Drill out spotwelds.
    2. 9.2. Grind down MIG seams.
  10. Drill out spotwelds.

  11. Drill out spotwelds.

  12. Heat up connection areas using a hot-air gun.

  13. Remove D-pillar reinforcement.
