Preliminary Work

  1. Remove engine from transmission. → 100127 REMOVING ENGINE FROM TRANSMISSION AND MOUNTING ENGINE ON TRANSMISSION
  2. Secure engine on assembly support. → 1001IN SECURING ENGINE ON ASSEMBLY SUPPORT (MOUNTING BRACKET)
  3. Drain engine oil
  4. Remove drive belt. → 137819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING DRIVE BELT .
  5. Remove coolant hoses in front of the timing-case cover.

  6. Remove both valve covers. → 158219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CYLINDER HEAD COVER 
  7. Remove pulley. → 137619 REMOVING AND REINSTALLING PULLEY (VIBRATION BALANCER)
  8. Remove joint flange from crankshaft sealing ring for pulley. → 137419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CRANKSHAFT SEALING RING FOR PULLEY/VIBRATION BALANCER
  9. Remove both turbochargers. → 213019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TURBOCHARGER
  10. Remove oil pan. → 175019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING OIL PAN
  11. Remove oil guide housing. → 175019 REMOVING AND REINSTALLING OIL GUIDE HOUSING
  12. Remove chain tensioner. → 153519 REMOVING AND INSTALLING TIMING CHAINS ON V6 DFI ENGINES
