Removing Chain Housing Cover: Notes

NOTE:
Incorrect handling of crankshafts
- Risk of damage to the timing system
→ Never turn the crankshaft against the rolling direction or when the chain tensioner is removed.
→ Proceed carefully with your work.
→ Only turn the engine at the crankshaft.
→ After working on the camshaft, re-set the valve timing.
→ Observe general warning notes and working regulations.
- Remove upper chain housing cover -1- .
- 1.1. Do not remove camshaft hall senders.
- 1.2. Unscrew and remove fastening screws -2- for the upper chain housing cover -1- .
- 1.3. Detach securely bonded chain housing cover -1- by tapping it carefully with a rubber hammer.
- 1.4. Clean sealing faces on engine block, chain housing cover and cylinder-head gasket.
- 2. Check sealing rings on the hydraulic valves in the chain housing cover.
- 2.1. If the sealing rings are damaged, place the chain housing cover on a level surface and tap out the rings using a socket-wrench insert -1- .
- 2.2. Fit new sealing rings using the pressure sleeve T10174 -1- .
