Installing Lower Chain Housing Cover

Information
If cold or excessively low-tempered components are sealed to each other by applying sealant, leaks can occur because of condensed water forming or components distorting. Components must be uniformly at least → Temperature: 17°C.
- Apply sealing compound to the sealing faces of the lower chain housing cover -2- .
- 1.1. Seal the face between the chain housing cover and cylinder-head gasket.
- 1.2. The area between the chain housing cover and oil pan is not sealed until the oil pan is installed (section on Subsequent work).The area between the timing-case cover and the oil pan is not sealed until the oil pan is installed (section on Subsequent work).
- 1.3. Seal the area -1- between the chain housing cover -2- and engine block.
- Carefully place timing-case cover on the engine block. When positioning the timing-case cover, make sure that the sealing compound is not displaced by the cylinder head gasket.
- Fit and tighten fastening screws -1, 2 and 3- for the chain housing cover.
