Removing Catalytic Converter

Disregard 1 and 2 , as well as the down arrows !
- Unscrew top screw -arrow- on the exhaust manifold heat shield and remove the heat shield.
- Release and unplug all oxygen sensor connectors. Disconnect and expose the oxygen sensors lines.
- Screw off the nuts -arrows- on the threaded joint securing the catalytic converter to the exhaust manifold.
- Unscrew fastening screws -arrows- for the catalytic converter on bank 1.
- Screw off suspension -1- and -2- . Loosen clamps -arrows- .
- Support the transmission using Engine And Gearbox Jack VAG 1383 A WE 1082 .
- Unscrew screws -1-
and -2-
for the transmission support.

Disregard 1 and 2 !
- Unscrew screws -arrows- and remove transmission support.
- Remove front cardan shaft. → 390219 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT CARDAN SHAFT
- Unscrew fastening screw -arrow- for the catalytic converter on bank 2.
- Remove catalytic converters:
- 11.1. Remove catalytic converter for bank 2 (top) in a downward direction.
- 11.2. Remove catalytic converter for bank 1.
