Checking Combination Valve For Secondary Air

Test Conditions:

Vacuum lines and hose connections are leak-tight.

Vacuum lines are not clogged.

Remove engine cover. → 108319 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE COVER (DESIGN COVER) .
Pull off vacuum hose on secondary air inlet valve to be checked.
1. -1- Secondary air inlet valve for bank 1 (right)
2. -2- Secondary air inlet valve for bank 2 (left)
  Hand Vacuum Pump VAS 6213 WE 1341 must be connected to the vacuum hose of the secondary air inlet valve to be checked.

Move hose -arrow- for secondary air forward out of the holder and disconnect it by pressing the release buttons.

Blow with your mouth into the hose connected to the combination valves using light pressure (Do Not Use Compressed Air ).
The combination valves for the secondary air system must be closed. It must not be possible to blow through them.
Hand vacuum pump VAS 6213 WE 1341 must now be operated.
The relevant combination valve should open; it should now be possible to blow through it.
If the relevant combination valve for the secondary air system does not open, replace it. → 266919 REMOVING AND INSTALLING COMBINATION VALVE FOR SECONDARY AIR SYSTEM
Assembly is carried out in reverse order.
