Replacing Rear Silencer

There is a small notch on the underside of the exhaust pipes that is level with the rear axle differential. The notch marks the connection point. -arrows-

Place the pipe cutter chain Chain Pipe Cutter Nr. 166 or Ratchet Pipe Cutter Nr. 166-1 (or similar tool) around the exhaust pipe close to the connection point marking and engage it at the other end of the pipe cutter. Then clamp the chain firmly by turning the handle. → Placing pipe cutter chain around exhaust pipe

Swivel the pipe cutter to and fro in wide movements until the pipe is cut. While doing this, keep tightening the chain by turning the handle. → Cutting through pipe with pipe cutter

Remove rear holders for the rear silencer.
1. 4.1. Secure the rear silencer with the help of another person or a transmission jack.
2. 4.2. Unscrew two fastening screws -1- on each holder.
3. 4.3. Remove rear silencer.

Deburr cut on inside and outside of exhaust pipe. If necessary, remove rust from exhaust pipe using suitable polishing agents and manually restore to roundness.
Fit new suspension rubbers or holders if necessary.
Push new exhaust clamp onto exhaust pipe.
Lift the rear silencer into installation position with the help of another person or a transmission jack. Tighten two fastening screws -1- on each holder to the specified tightening torque. → Tightening Torque: 23 Nm (17 ft. lb.)

Position clamping sleeves in the center of the cutting location during installation.
Fit clamping sleeves in such a way that the ends of the screws do not protrude over the lower edge of the clamping sleeve. The clamping sleeve must not touch any other components, even when the exhaust system is moving quite significantly.

→ Tightening Torque: 33 Nm (24 ft. lb.)
