Adjusting Gap Dimensions Of Rear Lid

Information

Set gap dimensions on lid and accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
Given a clearance in the opening that is too great or too small, the accessories must be centered with respect to the body.
Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points.
The given values are guidelines, which should be observed as far as possible.
The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.
Use star gauges to check the gap dimensions. Star gauges for body gap dimensions NR.127-1

1.	Fastening screws -7- for catch bar -8-	Locking mechanism for rear lid	Loosen.
2.	Fastening screws -1- for lid hinge -2-	Adjusting gap dimensions in Y and Z direction	Loosen.
3.	Rear lid -3-		Set gap dimensions in Y and Z direction by moving the lid.
4.	Fastening screws -1- securing lid hinge -2- to rear lid	Adjusting gap dimensions in Y and Z direction	Tighten fastening screws -1- to Tightening torque 10 Nm (7.5 ftlb.) .
5.	Fastening screws -4- securing lid hinge to body. If adjustments are needed, detach the rear roof trim panel. → 708419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HEADLINER	Adjusting gap dimensions in X direction, rear	Loosen.
6.	Fastening screws -4- securing lid hinge to body. If adjustments are needed, detach the rear roof trim panel. → 708419 REMOVING AND INSTALLING HEADLINER	Adjusting gap dimensions in X direction, rear	Tighten fastening screws -4- to Tightening torque 23 Nm (17 ftlb.) .
7.	Fastening screws -6- for adjusting elements -5- at the sides of the lid	Correcting gap dimension with respect to the body	Tighten fastening screws -6- to Tightening torque 6 Nm (4.5 ftlb.) .
8.	Catch bar -8-	Locking mechanism for rear lid	Adjust latch by moving the catch bar.
9.	Fastening screws -7- for catch bar -8-	Locking mechanism for rear lid	Tighten fastening screws -8- to Tightening torque 18 Nm (13 ftlb.) .
10.	Rubber stop -9-	Adjusting gap dimensions and preload	Set gap dimensions and inclination by turning the rubber stops -9- . There must be slight preload on the lid as a result of setting the rubber stops -9- .
