Reading And Writing Values

→ Prior to disconnecting the control unit, switch off ignition and remove ignition key.
→ Ensure that the power supply is not interrupted during programming.
→ Connect a battery charger with a current rating of at least → Nominal value: 40 A to the vehicle battery.
Information
The PIWIS Tester II 9818 instructions take precedence since the description may be different with later Tester releases.
The procedure described here has been structured in general terms. Different text or additional information may appear in PIWIS Tester II 9818 .
- Connect the Porsche System Tester to the vehicle and start the System Tester. Switch on ignition. [F12] to continue.
- Select vehicle type.
- Select the required control unit, e.g. Rear lid in the overview and press [F12] to continue.
- Select Maintenance/repairs .
- Select Control unit replacement and press [F12].
- Select Read data and press [F12].
- Press [F8] to start reading out data.
- Check the chassis number and press [F12].
- Switch off ignition and replace control unit. → 556819 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CONTROL UNIT FOR REAR LID .
- The rear lid remains open.
- Switch on ignition. Select the Write data menu (procedure described above), press [F12] and then press [F8] to start installing the data that was read out.
- The System Tester displays the message Data has been written
. Press [F12] to continue.CAUTION: When you start the calibration/teaching process, the tailgate moves to its limit stops. Mechanical force limitation is not guaranteed during this process.
- Danger of pinching and squashing body parts.
- Incorrect values for the control unit, resulting in malfunctions.
→ Take precautions to ensure that no body parts and objects can get caught in the tailgate.
- Select Calibration in the Maintenance/repairs menu and press [F12].
- Read the warnings, press [F12] and then press [F8] to start the calibration process.
- Actuate the "Close rear lid" switch. The rear lid closes.
- Actuate the "Open rear lid" switch. The rear lid opens.
- You may have to open and close the tailgate again. Once the teaching process has been completed successfully, an acoustic signal will be issued.
- Fault memory must be selected and erased if necessary.
