Removing Front Lid

Information

Some of the repair illustrations show only one side of the vehicle. Naturally, some steps also have to be performed on the opposite side of the vehicle as well. These must be carried out as a mirror image of the steps shown.

Information

Use a marking pen to mark the position of accessories with respect to each other before removal in order to reduce the amount of adjustment work required for gaps and joints.

Remove wire harness for front lid.
1. 1.1. Unclip sleeve for wire harness from the cut-out in a downward direction -arrow- using a suitable tool.

2. 1.2. Pull wire harness out of the lid.
Unclip cover -1- for wire harness on the hinge in a downward direction.

1. 2.1. Remove cover for wire harness.
Remove front lid.
1. 3.1. Loosen upper mounting for pneumatic springs for front lid, pull pneumatic springs forward and set them down. → 553119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING FRONT PNEUMATIC SPRING
2. 3.2. Screw off fastening nuts -1- on the front lid.

3. 3.3. Pull the lid up and off.
