Installing Wing

Information
- Set gap dimensions on the lids, doors and covers, or accessories in accordance with the gap specifications.
- Given a clearance in the openings that is too great or too small, the movable body parts or the accessories must be centred accordingly.
- Ensure that the gaps do not run in a wedge-shaped fashion or do not narrow at local points .
- You can use star gauges for body gap dimensions NR.127-1 for this.
- The given values are guidelines which should be observed as far as possible.
- The guidelines apply to repair and assembly work.
- Remove old sealant from contact surface of wing at the A-pillar.
- If you intend to re-use the wing, remove old sealant and old expanded sealant from the contact surface on the wing.
- Apply new expanded sealant -1-
on the wing.
- 3.1. Clean and degrease the contact surface for the expanded sealant -1- on the wing.
- 3.2. Stick new expanded sealant -1- along the cut on the wing.
- 3.3. Left wing: Trim projecting expanded sealant -1- on the lower edge of the wing.
- Carefully fit the wing on the longitudinal member and screw in fastening screws -1, 2, 3, 4- hand-tight.
- Adjust gap dimensions and offset from wing to adjacent components. → 5X00IN DIAGRAM - BODY GAP DIMENSIONS
- Tighten fastening screws -1- securing wing to A-pillar. Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) +/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)
- Tighten fastening screws -2- securing top of wing to longitudinal member. Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) +/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)
- Tighten fastening screws -3- securing front wing at the side to longitudinal member. Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) +/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)
- Press door entry guard -1- down carefully and tighten fastening screws -4- securing lower part of wing to door sill. Tightening torque 9 Nm (6.5 ftlb.) +/-1 Nm (+/-0.5 ftlb.)
- Seal inner wing to A-pillar in the area shown using spray-on sealant.
