Installing Electric Air-Conditioning Compressor: Notes
WARNING: This page does not describe the selected car, but rather 8 other vehicles, including the 2018 Porsche Cayenne, 2017 Porsche Cayenne, 2016 Porsche Cayenne, 2015 Porsche Cayenne, and 2014 Porsche Cayenne. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Clamp the high-pressure refrigerant line -6- under the longitudinal member -Z- for installing the air-conditioning compressor.
- Install electric air-conditioning compressor.
- 2.1. Pre-position the air-conditioning compressor with the rear side first and turned approx. 90 degrees to the right.
- Lower the air-conditioning compressor at the front and turn it slightly to the left. Guide the air-conditioning compressor to the rear onto the engine and position it.
- Fit and screw in the top front M8 fastening screw -10- used to secure the electric air-conditioning compressor to the engine bracket. Do not tighten the screw yet .
- Tighten the bottom front M8 fastening screw -8-
used to secure the electric air-conditioning compressor to the engine to the prescribed tightening torque. Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)
For easier access to the screw, press the hose -9- down slightly with the tool.
Accessible via front left wheel housing.
- Tighten the bottom rear M8 fastening screw -7-
used to secure the electric air-conditioning compressor to the engine to the prescribed tightening torque. Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)
Accessible via front left wheel housing.
- Tighten the top front M8 fastening screw -10- used to secure the electric air-conditioning compressor to the engine bracket to the prescribed tightening torque. Tightening torque 25 Nm (19 ftlb.)
- Secure the high-pressure refrigerant line to the electric air-conditioning compressor.
- 8.1. Remove stoppers.
- 8.2. Replace O-ring and coat with refrigerant oil.
- 8.3. Tighten M8 fastening screw -5- used to secure the high-pressure refrigerant line -6- to the electric air-conditioning compressor to the prescribed tightening torque. Tightening torque 20 Nm (15 ftlb.) +/-3 Nm (+/-2 ftlb.)
- Connect low-pressure refrigerant line at the connection point in the engine compartment and secure it.
- 9.1. Remove stoppers.
- 9.2. Replace O-ring and coat with refrigerant oil.
- 9.3. Tighten M8 fastening screw -3-
used to secure the low-pressure refrigerant line to the low-pressure refrigerant line at the connection point in the engine compartment to the prescribed tightening torque. Tightening torque 12 Nm (9 ftlb) +/-1.5 Nm (+/-1 ftlb.)
Counter at the low-pressure refrigerant line connection point using an open-ended wrench (a/f 22).
- Close the holding clamp on the low-pressure refrigerant line -2- and tighten M6 fastening nut -1- to the prescribed tightening torque. Tightening torque 8 Nm (6 ftlb.)
- Secure refrigerant line from evaporator to the low-pressure refrigerant line.
- 11.1. Remove stoppers.
- 11.2. Replace O-ring and coat with refrigerant oil.
- 11.3. Tighten fastening screw -3- used to secure the refrigerant line from the evaporator (chiller) -1- to the low-pressure refrigerant line -2- to the prescribed tightening torque. Tightening torque 12 Nm (9 ftlb.) +/-1.5 Nm (+/-1 ftlb.)
- Plug in electric connector for the air-conditioning compressor until it engages securely.
