Installing Engine Cover (Design Cover)

Information 

The tightening specifications for the basic engine are stored centrally (→ 1001IN TIGHTENING TORQUES, TIGHTENING SEQUENCES, ASSEMBLY OVERVIEWS ).

Tightening torques and assembly instructions for other assemblies (e.g. chassis, electrics, transmission or body) or for peripheral engine equipment can be found in the corresponding documents.

1. Lift up the torque support on the valve cover. Move engine cover into installation position and press it onto the ball joints on the valve cover.
   1. Design cover for cylinder bank 1 to 4
   2. Design cover for cylinder bank 5 to 8
   3. Screw for securing design cover to bar ignition module
   4. Mounting points (ball joints)

2. Fit fastening screws for the engine cover at the bar ignition modules.
3. Fit design cover for throttle valve.
   1. 3.1. Place cover over the throttle valve and press it onto the Velcro strip → Design cover on throttle valve  .
      1. Design cover on throttle valve (view from above)
      2. Design cover on throttle valve (view from below)
      3. Ball joints under design cover
      4. Bonding area, Velcro fastener
