Removing Transfer Gear

WARNING:
Danger of objects or loads falling down
- Risk of squashing or crushing
→ Secure components to prevent them from falling down.
- Unscrew both exhaust system holders on the transfer gear -arrows- .
- Release and disconnect cable plug -1- on the transfer gear at the bottom.
- Support the automatic transmission at the oil pan using Transmission Jack VAG. 1383 A WE 1082 .
- Remove transmission cross member.
- 4.1. Unscrew M10 fastening screws -B- on the transmission mount.
- 4.2. Unscrew M10 fastening screws -A-
at the outside and remove cross member.

Information
- Get one or more people to help when installing/removing heavy or difficult-to-reach components .
- This will prevent or reduce the risk of possible damage .
- Remove transfer gear.
- 5.1. Unscrew M10 aluminum screws on the transfer gear -arrows- .
- 5.2. Lower the automatic transmission slightly using the transmission jack if necessary.
- 5.3. Replace aluminum screws.
- Remove transfer gear from the automatic transmission with the help of another person and set it down.
