Recommended tool for measuring radial play of connecting rods: Plastigage Nr. 52 Pos. 1
- Remove connecting-rod bearing cap. → 131020 REMOVING AND INSTALLING PISTONS
- Clean the bearing cover and bearing journal.
- Place Plastigage corresponding to the width of the bearing on the bearing journal or into the bearing shells.
- Fit connecting-rod bearing cap and tighten old screws to 50 Nm, 37 ft. lb . without additional torque angle. Do not turn the crankshaft.
- Remove connecting-rod bearing cap again.
- Compare the width of the Plastigage with the graduations.
