Draining Coolant (High-Temperature Cooling System)

Information
If larger components (e.g. engine, radiator, etc.) are to be removed/installed, it is absolutely essential to drain the cooling system. Otherwise, hidden air bubbles can prevent the system from filling properly. This results in temperature problems in the cooling and heating systems.
- Remove engine guard. → 108019 REMOVING AND INSTALLING ENGINE GUARD
- Place a drip tray under the engine.
- Open the cap on the coolant reservoir.WARNING: Hot fluid
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Drain coolant at the radiator.
- 4.1. Pull off quick-connecting lock -arrow- at the bottom right of the radiator.
- 4.2. Pull coolant hose off the radiator.
- 4.3. Collect emerging coolant.
- Disconnect coolant hose -arrow- from the engine oil cooler and drain coolant.
