Draining Coolant
- Danger of poisoning or suffocation
- Danger of burns to the eyes and skin
→ Ventilate the work area well.
→ Never ingest or inhale.
→ Read specific information on the Hazard Sheet.
→ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.
- Danger of scalding
→ Let the fluid cool down.
→ Wear personal protective gear.
- Danger of limbs being trapped or severed
→ Disconnect power supply to the drive motor of components or to the battery.
- Risk of damage to vehicle components
→ Do not start the engine after relieving the system pressure.
→ Fill the cooling system correctly and bleed it before starting the engine.
Information
- The coolant filled in at the factory is intended to suffice for the entire service life. As long as the coolant is not contaminated by foreign bodies or other fluids it need not be changed .
- Different coolant additives must not be mixed and doing so may damage the cooling system. Only use original Porsche coolant additives .
- The coolant must be set to antifreeze protection of -37 °C. This corresponds to a mixing ratio of 50: 50 (coolant additive: water). This mixing ratio provides optimum corrosion and antifreeze protection .
- Coolant additives, coolants and cleaning agents must be disposed of according to the respective, applicable national laws .
- Seals in the cooling system must be replaced by new ones following disassembly .
- Open the maintenance cover -1- .
- Carefully open the cap on the coolant reservoir. Unscrew the cap in an anti-clockwise direction.
- Remove cap.
- Move service clip on bleeder valve assembly -3- into service position. The bleeder valve assembly is located next to the filler neck for the coolant reservoir -4- .
- Drain the cooling system.
- 5.1. Drain the cooling system. Open the coolant hose -2- on the bottom right radiator (in direction of travel), drain coolant into a container and dispose of it according to the applicable national laws if no longer required.
- Secure the coolant hose -2- on the radiator again.
- Proceed as follows if the cooling system needs to be bled again (in order to clean the cooling system for example):
- 7.1. Disconnect the coolant hose -6- for the coolant reservoir and collect emerging coolant in a suitable container.
