Installing Oil Pan

Information 

The component must be installed and secured within five minutes of applying sealant.

→ Ensure that they are cleaned thoroughly and that any remaining sealant is removed completely.

1. Remove old sealant from the grooves on the upper part of the oil pan and from the sealing surfaces.
   WARNING: Risk of damage or injury from foreign bodies flying around during grinding, drilling and milling

   • Risk of eye injuries

   → Wear protective goggles.

   1. 1.1. Remove sealant residue from the upper part of the oil pan and cylinder block using a rotating plastic brush.
   2. 1.2. Sealing surfaces must be free of oil and grease.

2. Cut off the nozzle on the tube at the front marking (nozzle diameter is approx. 1.5  mm).

3. Apply a bead of sealant -arrow-  to the clean sealing surface on the upper part of the oil pan as shown.
   1. 3.1. The grooves on the sealing surfaces must be filled completely with sealant.
   2. 3.2. Sealant bead thickness: approx. 1.5... 2.0 mm  .

   Check use-by date of sealant  .

4. Insert seal -1-  and O-ring -2-  into the guide frame.

5. Position upper part of oil pan (check position of dowel sleeves) and tighten screws.

6. Further installation is performed in reverse order.
