Checking Oil Pressure

→ Ventilate the work area well.

→ Never ingest or inhale.

→ Do not smoke, eat or drink in the work area.

→ Let the fluid cool down.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

WARNING: Highly inflammable or explosive materials
  • Danger of fire or explosion

→ Avoid contact with hot parts or sources of ignition.

→ Use suction to remove ignitable vapors.

→ Attach warning sign in a clearly visible position.

Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws  .

  1. Loosen and unscrew oil-pressure sender. → Removing Oil-Pressure Sender

  2. Use adapter insert with a suitable sealing ring instead of the oil-pressure sender and tighten hand-tight.
  3. Connect the test hose to the adapter insert.
  4. Connect oil pressure tester "OP 85" to the test hose.

    Information 

    • The oil temperature must be between 80 and 100 °C when measuring oil pressure  .
    • Check the oil temperature using a special thermometer or PST II tester  .
  5. Start the engine and rev to the required test speed. Read off the oil pressure on the oil pressure tester "OP 85".

    • When the oil pressure tester "OP 85" is unscrewed, approx. 0.3 liters of engine oil will escape  .

    Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws  .

  6. Remove oil pressure tester "OP 85" and test hose.
  7. Screw in oil-pressure sender with a new sealing ring and tighten it. → Installing Oil-Pressure Sender → Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
