Information
- Oil pressure may be too low for a number of reasons:
- Oil is diluted .
- Oil pump is faulty .
- Bearing clearance is too large (e.g. crankshaft bearing) .
- Oil level is too low .
- Oil pressure-regulating valve is faulty .
- Incorrect oil has been used. Only use oil that has been approved by Porsche for the measurement .
Information
- The oil-pressure sender is located on the oil-filter console to the left under the generator .
Information
- When the oil-pressure sender is unscrewed, approx. 0.3 liters of engine oil will escape .
Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws .
- Loosen and unscrew oil-pressure sender. → Removing Oil-Pressure Sender
- Use adapter insert 4 with a suitable sealing ring instead of the oil-pressure sender and tighten hand-tight.
- Connect the test hose to the adapter insert.
- Connect oil pressure tester "OP 85" to the test hose.
Information
- The oil temperature must be between 80 and 100 °C when measuring oil pressure .
- Check the oil temperature using a special thermometer or PST II tester .
- Start the engine and rev to the required test speed. Read off the oil pressure on the oil pressure tester "OP 85".
Engine speed [RPM] Oil pressure [bar] 1, 500 1.7 2, 000 3.0 to 5.5 more than 2, 000 7.0 Information
- When the oil pressure tester "OP 85" is unscrewed, approx. 0.3 liters of engine oil will escape .
Collect emerging engine oil and dispose of it in accordance with the applicable national laws .
- Remove oil pressure tester "OP 85" and test hose.
- Screw in oil-pressure sender with a new sealing ring and tighten it. → Installing Oil-Pressure Sender → Tightening torque: 20 Nm (15 ftlb.)
