Disconnecting The Battery: Notes

Switch off all loads and remove the ignition key.
- Do not disconnect the battery while the engine is running .
- Disconnect and reconnect battery with extreme caution .
- Do not rub the battery with a dry cloth .

The battery is located under the driver's seat.
- Detach and fold over carpet in front of the driver's seat. → 704119 REMOVING AND INSTALLING CARPET
- Screw off ground strap at the ground point in front of the driver's seat:
- Risk of short circuit! Screw off the ground strap -2- at the ground point -1- under the driver's seat in front of the battery box.
- Route or isolate the ground strap -2- so that all contact with a ground carrier (e.g. body, battery terminal) is avoided.
