Removing Bellows For Steering-Gear Housing (Joint Boot)

Mark the position of the tie-rod ball on the thread before unscrewing it.
Count the number of turns when unscrewing the tie-rod ball.
It will then be possible to install the tie-rod ball back in the same position and retain the basic setting of the steering trapeze.
However, this does not replace the suspension alignment.

Make sure that no dirt gets into the power-steering gear and bellows when removing and installing the bellows.

Unscrew lock nut from tie rod.
Right tie rod:
Remove fastening screws -1- on the heat shield -2- near the bellows -3- for the right tie rod.

Pull out heat shield -2- .
Loosen the outer clamp -arrow- on the bellows using assembly tools for spring band clamps Nr.72 .

Loosen the inner clamp -1- on the bellows using suitable pliers.

Pull bellows -3- together with clamp -1- off the tie rod -2- .
