Installing Flywheel

WARNING: Caustic fluids
  • Danger of chemical burns

→ Avoid contact with caustic fluid.

→ Wear personal protective gear.

→ Ensure that there is good ventilation.

→ If you do come into contact, wash off immediately with plenty of warm water and contact a doctor if necessary.

  1. Remove protective wax on new parts with acetone or solvent naphtha.

    Information 

    Before re-installing the flywheel, clean the friction surface of the flywheel using a clean, lint-free cloth soaked in acetone or solvent naphtha).

  2. Tool Recommendation: Torque/Torque Angle Screw Tool WE 1440  .
    1. 2.1. Set the tightening torque -1-  and torque angle -2-  on the tool.

  3. Position the flywheel on the crankshaft dowel pin and press it onto the crankshaft flange.
  4. Fit flywheel with new fastening screws evenly in diagonally opposite sequence. Use Counter-Hold Tool T10172  to secure.
    1. 4.1. Tightening Step 1:  Screw in and tighten fastening screws to Initial Tightening 25 Nm (19 ft. lbs.)  .
    2. 4.2. Tightening Step 2:  Screw in and tighten fastening screws to Torque angle 120°  .
