Assembling Crankshaft
NOTE:
Dirt and contamination
- Risk of damage to units or components
→ Protect components from dirt and contamination.
→ Clean or replace dirty components.
- Assemble new connecting-rod bearing shells on the crankshaft according to the marking -2- .
- Fit connecting rods.
- 2.1. The data matrix code marking -1- must be facing the outlet side for all connecting rods.
- 2.2. The markings -2- must be on one side.
- 2.3. Screw in new connecting rod bolts and tighten according to specifications.
Step 1: Initial Tightening 5 Nm (3.5 ft. lbs.)
Step 2: Subsequent Tightening Torque 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
Step 3: Torque Angle 80°
Step 4: Loosen bolts
Step 5: Initial Tightening 5 Nm (3.5 ft. lbs.)
Step 6: Subsequent Tightening Torque 20 Nm (15 ft. lbs.)
Step 7: Final Tightening Torque Angle 80°
- Assemble and fit new bearing shells for both crankcase halves on the crankshaft and crankcase half 1-3 according to the markings.
- 3.1. Coat bearing shells with new engine oil.
- Insert crankshaft into crankcase half.
